Moving to Los Angeles
We bought our first home together on November 22, 2019. We were living in Louisiana while working full-time jobs and thought we would be there for at LEAST 5 years! But we all know how life happens in mysterious ways :)
Only 1.5 years after buying our home in Louisiana, we decided to sell it and move to Los Angeles, California!
Wait, WHAAAAT?!
The most common question we get is WHY! I mean… it seems very random and out of completely nowhere. And I guess it kind of is, but… it’s where we know we’re supposed to be!
So how did we make this work?
Well we started by selling basically everything… we didn’t want to drive a U-HAUL to California, PLUS we were downsizing from 1,649sqft to 700sqft and didn’t really “need” to bring majority of the things we had in our home. So we sold what we could, and drove a U-HAUL to bring stuff to my mom’s house in Texas.
Downsizing & Purging
It’s insane what gets collected over the years… and we were only living here for 1.5 years, so I cannot imagine what it’s like for people who have houses for longer! But we did it all in 1 month! It took lots of mental energy, but we did it. It was actually super satisfying and cool to realize what is actually necessary to survive, what is actually important to us, and what is just “stuff” that we can give to someone else who might need it.
So where are you guys now?
As I’m writing this, I’m in our NEW apartment in Los Angeles. We’re both working on our Digital Marketing Agency. I am running social media & paid ads full-time, while Evan does the branding packages and website design. We LOVE working together, love working remotely, and love our new apartment! We have only lived in Los Angeles for 1 week now, but we love it so far. It just feels like HOME to us.
Now it’s time to furnish our apartment…
We didn’t really bring ANY big furniture with us… I mean, I drive a Nissan Rogue and we brought our 70lb furbaby with us on the road trip to California. So we basically didn’t bring anything except a few clothes, some towels, toiletries, and 1 box of decorations that I refused to get rid of ;)
